Little Pea...you're already hard work!

When I found out I was pregnant, I hadn't had the slightest bit of sickness. When I told people I was pregnant, that was what I bragged about - "I haven't been sick at all!".. Well, I jinxed myself. For about the last three or four weeks (weeks 5-8), I have become quite familiar with "morning sickness". Who decided to call it MORNING sickness? It's a tease, because really your sick all day! But, for you my baby berry, I press on. I have found that there are some things my tummy can handle, and I have found (the hard way) that there are some things my tummy cannot.
I had my first prenatal appointment on October 14th, when I met my..excuse me..OUR Dr. for the first time. Her name is Erin Alward, and I would certainly suggest her to any new mommy to be's out there. At our first appointment, we couldn't see if we're having a boy or a girl, however, there was confirmation that there is ONLY ONE! (My father in law, Shawn Ferguson, will be so disappointed. He was hoping for triplets). Also, I got to see a tiny little flicker, just flickering as fast as could be. This tiny little flicker was our baby's heart, and that little flicker caused my heart to do some serious flickering itself. I couldn't believe my eyes...and sometimes it still feels like a dream. But, enough about me - let's talk about Daddy.
Dad is doing great. He couldn't be any more supportive and helpful if I asked. He has given up any say in dinner; and when asked what he wants, always replies with, "you're the pregnant one". : ) He's already talking about all the things our baby will NOT be doing...if it's' a she. He reminds me of another Daddy I know with his "it's different for girls" mantra. But, we'll cross that bridge when we come to it, I suppose.
I haven't started "showing", but I will say it's much more comfortable to have my pants unbuttoned after a big lunch. Other than tighter pants, and a MUCH more sensitive stomach - not much has changed. We won't know the sex of the baby until January, and I imagine that will be when the REAL work will start.
